Welcome to the Biorobotics laboratory in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at KAIST. We are an interdisciplinary group of researchers interested in developing tools that improve training effects and performance in minimally invasive surgery and medical instrumentation. The goals of research are to integrate information technologies and intelligent machines to medical environments, especially surgical operating rooms. Various multidisciplinary investigations involving modeling of biomechanical system, psychophysics, motor control, real time tissue model and robotics are employed. One of the products in our research is a virtual reality based surgical simulator, which train surgeons in computer generating environments to train, measure and certify techniques of trainee without sacrificing animals or practice to real patients.
